Evangeline-2

Eve silently slid back into her house, praying that Marda wouldn't wake up. When she heard the dorm mother's snores she breathed an internal sigh of relief and crept into the room she shared with Grace. The short blond girl was asleep, looking unusually small and young in the moonlight. Eve pulled the blanket over Grace's arms and was rewarded with a small reflective smile. The she undressed, pulling off her gown and removing the sword that hung at her side. She slipped a nightgown over head and crawled into her feather mattress. She had not taken off the small knives that hung in sheaths at her wrists, ankles, waist, and knee. She'd practiced with these deadly weapons since she was a child, now she could easily kill a Rajha, never mind a full grown man. She always slept with them, fending off a danger she never admitted even to herself. She knew she had surprised the vampires back in the clearing. Heck, she had surprised herself. They were obviously puzzled and upset by her clear mind. They didn't know that the lower ranks, the ones who were supposed to be dazzled by the power of the higher ups, were left with a sharp mind to deal with the mudane but confusing jobs of making a city run smoothly. Her mind was the sharpest of all but she played dumb. She was afraid of the Guards who really didn't care who they beat up, they just liked scaring people. Her trick with the fainting had gone well, they had fallen for it and she found out who was the leader and that they were desperate. She knew that when a vampire stared at you with golden eyes you were suposed to get knocked out. She didn't know why she hadn't but she figured it was better to play it safe, pretend she was affected the same way as everyone else. She tried to piece together all this information but couldn't. The only thing she knew for sure was that she wasn't going into that clearing alone. She was brining at least one and probably two other people. She may be a Nibbler but she wasn't stupid.

hey! love the story. you got a talent to be a writer. you leave your audiance thinking and wondering what your world is all about, and in that, it makes them want to read more, hoping they'll find what they're wondering about.

does that make sense? ;D
